Story: I'll admit, the first time I saw this Anime Series' trailer in Animax I was intrigued. I thought that this would turn out to be like Blood+ with the Chevalier thing being mentioned but as soon as I watched the 1st episode, I said to myself, "This is not like Blood+ at all." The story follows D'Eon de Beaumont in his quest to unravel the mystery behind his sister untimely death. It was unfortunate for him as his sister was involved in this high profile case. Nevertheless he takes it upon himself to get to the bottom of all this. As he gets closer to finding out the truth, he encounters different people, and taboos kept hidden from the public before finally obtaining the answers he was looking for and more. Some of the readers of this review (Those who are/aren't watching or have/haven't watched this series... XD) may have different opinions about this but I for one liked it a lot. The story was full of mysteries that will want to finish all 24 episodes in one go just to understand what was happening. There were a lot of twists and turns in the plot and some of the episodes also had cliff hangers (Which I truly hate... XP). Just when you think you've figured out what was going on, the story turns a full 180 on you and leave you guessing just what the heck went wrong there. Historical facts were also somehow included in this Anime, as it was loosely based on the story of the figure of Charles-Genevieve-Louis-Auguste-Andre-Timothee Eon de Beaumont, and were intertwined with the mysteries revolving around key concepts such as, Poets, Gargoyles, Royal Psalms and Psalm of Venegeance to name a few. This is one of those series where you have to NOT miss an episode to fully understand where the story will lead to. Hehe... The ending was different and that's all I can say. Watch it and you'll find out what I mean. Personal Rating: 5 out of 5 Animation: The animation was pretty good and their representation of France, England, Russia and all the other places the characters went to were drawn well. They made it feel as if you were watching the story unfold prior to the French Revolution. Personal Rating: 3 out of 5 ![]() D'Eon & Lia de Beaumont ![]() From left to right: Durand, Robin, Teillagory Characters: There are many characters in the Series! But out of all of them, the characters who stood out for me were the de Beaumont Siblings of course. XD They are the main characters after all. The characters are interesting enough though some lacked enough background to know where they're coming from and how they became part of the mystery. (Either that or I was too engrossed to see what will happen next rather than understand who was of royalty or not or whatever. Hehe...) Anyway, I really liked the fact that most of the character are figures from history (Although that kinda messes things up a little... XD). They also have their own purposes to be in this particular quest to know the truth behind it all. Though they were dragged into this by circumstance, they work together to fulfill their goal as a group and fulfill a personal goal on the side. They really love their country, BTW. Oh, and don't forget the type of clothes they were wearing! (^o^) French Style! Haha! Personal Rating: 4 out of 5 Music: I really like the closing song more than the opening song but either way both songs were nice to listen to. Conspiracies, mysteries, lies, truths, and revenge abound the series and well, the songs somehow fell short in that department. (In my opinion at least.) Though they present a solemn atmosphere in the beginning and at the end, they could've done better. Personal Rating: 3 out of 5 Overall: I give this Anime Series a thumbs-up! I like the music, animation, the characters plus the fact that I was and still hooked into this Series. As I've said the ending was different and though it was not how I wished the series could've ended, it was okay nonetheless. This is an interesting Anime for all those who are into mysteries and for all those who like plot twists and turns. (^o^)b Personal Rating: 4 out of 5 Note: Though I'm not sure this will be to everyone's liking. It maybe confusing for some...
